Building Relationships

Rainy Season in definitely living up to its name here in Miami. The sky fluctuates between beautiful blue mixed with white clouds and darkening skies that rip open with thunder lightning, and pouring rain; soon the blue sky is dominating again.  It's a good time to focus on indoor activities.
We did some "Spring Cleaning"this morning and then picked up Wen for a 'class' on cooking at the Keller home.  She has been looking forward to it all week.

She was a great student and followed directions well.  She had requested to learn how to make an Indian meal since she got stuck on Italian after I taught her how to make spaghetti last semester.  Among other dishes, we came up with this scrumptious chicken entree. All the green comes from fresh mint, green chilies, spinach, green onion, and cilantro. It also included yogurt, lemon, and plenty of garlic. We served it over rice.
For many months however, she has been requesting to learn how to make my blueberry crumb pie. This was the highlight of her time here today.
And here is her finished product.
In her country it is rare to get blueberries and she had not tasted them (except in juice) until she came to America.  She really enjoyed the fruit of her labor.
The best part of the day was the chit-chat in the kitchen while we worked together. She asked me questions about the Bible as she has been reading in Genesis and Exodus. We had several hours of building and adding to our relationship.  May God get the glory.

  1. What a thrill to see Christ loving your students through the kitchen!! And...on an "unspiritual note"...will you publish your famous dish recipes?....please?!

  2. Blueberry crumb pie sounds scrumptious! Blueberries are one of my favorite fruits! Wen is blessed to spend time in your kitchen and in conversation with you.
